TIME TO ACT
Who really knows and understands the workings and timings of God! He sees far beyond what we think could only be a possibility.
The last few months have been a most interesting journey. I am writing this story from a new space in my life and a new location - The Sutherland Shire. This is now our home.
“God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act.”
(Exodus 2:24-25 NLT)This verse is part of a bigger story in Israelite history. Obviously they were not able to experience all that God had promised them and were crying out for help.
It was verse 25 that jumped out at me because it feels like we are responding to God’s desire to act. It seems God wants to start something here and we feel quite humbled to be involved.
There have been many conversations where people have said, “we have been waiting for something like this”, as if it were a groaning that Heaven has been listening to. You’re probably asking the same questions we are, something like what? Like a church that we are about to start. What about all the other churches that are already here?
How many churches does a city really need? I guess it needs enough to allow every person the opportunity to belong!
We, like many other church leaders in our city, feel like we are responding to the call that God is asking. And it seems that God is responding to the call of a community that is also asking.
The hospitality of both the business community and other church leaders has been extremely generous. And we are excited about a long and successful partnership as we join hands and serve our community together.
So, here we are, pioneering a church in the beach side suburbs of the Sutherland Shire. All because God has said to us it’s time to act.
